Measuring Distance and Area

Distance Measurement

The manual measurement tool allows you to measure the distance of points on the map “as the crow flies.” The feature is available on the web and in the mobile app, but with differences.

To create points, click on the Tools button on the web and select the Distance and area measurement option. Then click on the desired location on the map. Each additional click adds another point. Similar to a planned route, you can change the position or add a new node by clicking and dragging a node or linear section.

The distance is calculated from the first selected point to the position of the mouse cursor, so for the distance of two points, it is not necessary to select the second point directly; simply hover the mouse cursor over it, and the distance will be continuously adjusted and displayed. The route will display its elevation profile, distances between individual points, the total distance, and azimuth.

For more accurate measurement of the route length along outdoor paths and cycling trails, you can use the Planning feature, where you only need to enter the starting and ending points of your route. The route between the end points will be automatically planned, and the distance, including the elevation profile, will be displayed. You can then manually adjust the route by adding waypoints.

Area Measurement

If you enter more than two points using the distance measurement tool, the area will also be displayed next to the length of the route. It is not necessary to close the measured area; the tool will automatically connect the first and last points. The feature is only available on the web.
