In the Mapy.com app, you can easily share your location by sharing a specific place on the map or by sharing your current location during navigation.
Sharing a place on the map
- In the mobile app, press and hold on any place on the map
- Information about the place, including coordinates, will be displayed, and active operations are available in the bottom bar
- Select the Share option
- A list of apps through which you can send the location as a link to Mapy.com (e.g., SMS, email, messenger, social networks, etc.) will be displayed
- Select the appropriate app and confirm sharing
Fast location sharing is also possible by long pressing on the app icon. You will see the details of the place where you are currently located, and the sharing menu will open automatically.
You can also share directly via coordinates. Open the place details, find the section with the location information, and tap on the coordinates entry in one of the available formats (WGS84, S-JTSK OLC, MGRS). The coordinates will automatically be copied in text form to your clipboard, which you can then paste into any other app.
Sharing location during navigation
During ongoing navigation in the mobile app, you can share your current location on the route and also track your friends’ locations.
- In the app’s main menu, select the Route option and plan your journey
- After starting navigation, pull the navigation card upwards
- Select Share location
- A link will be generated, which you can then share in your preferred way (SMS, email, messenger, social networks, etc.)
- A notification that you are sharing your location will appear at the bottom of the navigation card. Sharing can be stopped manually or will automatically turn off when you reach your destination
Tracking the location of other users
Tracking the location of other users during their active navigation is possible both on the web and in the mobile app.
If you receive a link to share the location from another user and you click on the link, the Mapy.com webpage with the user’s current location will automatically open. If the link doesn’t work automatically, you can copy it and paste it into the browser’s address bar.
You can continue to use the maps normally regardless of the ongoing location sharing.
The shared location can be reopened at any time by clicking Share location in the profile section in the top right corner, where you can also manage individual shares.
If you receive a link to share the location from another user and you click on the link, their current location will be displayed directly in the app. If the link doesn’t open automatically, you can copy it and paste it into the search field in the app.
You can continue to use the app regardless of the ongoing location sharing.
Ongoing and historical shares can be reopened at any time via the Share location item in the app’s main menu, where individual shares can also be managed.
