Searching by Coordinates

You can enter coordinates in one of the supported formats.

WGS-84

Mapy.com uses geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) on the WGS-84 ellipsoid. If your GPS shows latitude and longitude, you likely have data that can be used on our maps without conversion.

A second of latitude corresponds to approximately 30 m on the Earth’s surface, the same angular measure in longitude corresponds in our latitudes to about 20 m. Since the highest map resolution is 50 cm/pixel, the theoretical maximum geodetic accuracy is in the order of a few hundredths of a second.

S-JTSK

In the territory of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, you can also search using the S-JTSK coordinate system (standard cadastral trigonometric grid system).

Example of notation
  • jtsk: 801310.09, 1077249.26
  • 801310.09, -1077249.26
  • Y: 801310.09, X: 1077249.26
  • Y: 801310,09, X: 1077249,26

MGRS

You can also search for coordinates recorded in the Military Grid Reference System format, which is used within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It is based on the Transverse Mercator coordinate system and covers the entire Earth’s surface. For example, 33UVR57124674.

How to find GPS coordinates on the map

In the case of a search result, a custom created point or more detailed information about the point of interest, the information is always displayed in the right sidebar. Below the photo and basic information is the GPS button. Clicking on it will display the GPS coordinates. Clicking on the broken arrow on the right will display the information sequentially in the three most commonly used formats.
